The Department of Music of Kathmandu University announces opening of admissions for two-year Master Programs in Ethnomusicology (MMus) for the coming academic year 2023.

The programme emphasizes on training competent musicians and ethnomusicologists to document, preserve, and work creatively with the endangered musical traditions of Nepal. The entire course is highly participatory and students are expected to take an active role in the preparation and leading of class discussions. This programme is a research degree and will require students to conduct an independent and original research project and submit a written dissertation during the final year.

Eligibility: 

Completion of Bachelor in Ethnomusicology or equivalent degree from any recognized intuition.

Duration: Two years

Form Distribution: June 15 to July 15, 2023

Last date for form submission: July 15, 2023

Entrance Exam: July 16, 2023

Interview: July 19, 2023

Admissions of selected students: July 20 to July 30, 2023

Orientation: August 1, 2023

The new semester will begin from August 6, 2023
